Inmate Money

Every prison has a Commissary that serves to provide inmates a bank type account for inmate monies and for buying things not issued regularly by the correctional facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Family, friends, or other sources may deposit money into these accounts by sending it by Western Union or by mail.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can choose to send inmates funds through postal mail and must send it to the following address and follow the rules listed below:

The funds must be in a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is best if you use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day hold period, and during this period the inmate will not have access to the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return funds that do not have correct prisoner info if the envelope it was sent it has a return address. Checks and cash will not be deposited to the inmate’s account so do not send cash or checks.

  1. Carla S says:

    Good day
I have my fiance at this prison. I have never had any issues, until recently. I will give a short version. Last Saturday, September 12th, 2015 was our anniversary. I got his name finally tattooed on me and he was excited. I showed him and he was happy. He then started rubbing my belly since I have been sick. At that point he was called to the captain and was given a verbal that he was touching me too much. Once he sat down he was telling me he got a verbal and didn’t touch me again. He had to go to the restroom and they took him away. I feel this is not correct and his visit should of not been cut short. We didn’t do anything wrong. I am trying to file an appeal since he is getting written up and I got my visits put on hold for 30 days. How can a person be written up without any true warning. I can understand if he kept touching me, but that wasn’t even the case. He didn’t even sit down for 5 mins. I would love if someone can help me understand and how I can file my appeal. Please help
