Inmate Money

Each prison has a Commissary that was started to provide an account for inmate monies and for buying items not provided by the Bureau of Prisons.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Family, friends, or other sources may add money to these Commissary accounts using Western Union or by mail.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send inmates funds by way of the postal service and will have to send the moneyh to the following address and follow the directions given below:

The deposit must be a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day hold period, in which the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender funds that don’t have appropriate inmate information if the envelope has a valid return address. Cash and personal checks won’t be deposited to the inmate’s account so do not send cash or checks.
