Inmate Money

Every state prison has a Commissary which serves to provide inmates a bank-like account for prisoner funds and for purchasing things not issued to inmates by the Bureau of Prisons.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone may send funds to prisoner’s Commissary accounts using Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send prisoners money by way of postal mail and have to send money to the address below and do so in accordance with the steps provided below:

The money must be a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day holding period, and during this period the inmate will not have access to the depsoit. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender funds that do not have correct inmate information provided the envelope has an adequate return address. Cash and personal checks can’t be deposited to the inmate’s account so do not send checks or cash.

  1. James says:

Very racist and un professional treatment center for incarcerated missouri offenderd.this place needs to be shut down as soon as possible. Geared towards making revenue for the little town of maryville.i will be creating a blog very soon for the closing of services here at the center.

  2. Mike says:

Unfortunately James is 100% right. I had the misfortune of being at Maryville Mistreatment Center in 2001. I’m Native American Indian and they tried to force me to cut my hair. When I refused and presented my CDIB Card and Other Supporting Documents to Prove my Native American Indian Heritage I was transferred to Ozark Correctional Center, ” OCC “. Where my hair was forcefully cut, my Medicine Bag and Ceremonial Pipe was Desecrated and Destroyed, and I was left with no other option but to begin a 13 year sentence.
