Inmate Money

Each state correctional institution has a Commissary which was started to provide inmates an account for inmate monies and for buying items not issued to inmates by the facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone can deposit money to these Commissary accounts by sending it by Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send prisoners funds through postal mail and have to send it to the address below and follow the policies given below:

The money have to be in a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day holding period, and during this hold period the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return money orders that don’t have valid prisoner information provided the envelope has a valid return address. Cash and personal checks can’t be deposited to the prisoner’s account so don’t send cash or checks.

  1. debbie parker says:

my grandson was just recently transferred there .I had heard that this was one of the best places to go to .but upon reading some of the comments I am very concerned. just how often are there incidents there that results in inmates being beaten and lying on the floor bleeding? just how safe is my grandson going to be there? he is not a violent person, what are your best recommendations that I could tell him to be safe there? concerned grandmother
    thank you

  2. Michelle says:

Have a friend incarcerated at NCCI the visiting is a joke. Unprofessional. Same rules do not apply across the board clothing etc. Some will be allowed in wearing clothing that are against policy while others are made to change their clothes? Hmmm. The visitation room is terrible. C.o. sitting not doing rounds way more interested in socializing rather than watching inmates. Making unsubstantiated allegations seen people’s visitation restricted based on a c.o. stating she saw an action that would have immediately terminated visit and inmate would have been cuffed. Instead nothing was said he received ticket (rib) asked to view video was told no? Let me guess there’s some AR that gives the excuse they do not have to show but the allegation was followed by a guilty so he’s just screwed. RIB watched this video and could not see the action but still guilty. Hmmmm hello we live in reality the egos have gotten to these barely out of high school kids baby sitting these adults. Understand the loose term slander that’s what is happening at this prison. When you accuse someone of an act and can’t prove inmates guilt Making what you are saying the act of improperly touch, kiss, knees past the corners of table. Whatever it is you accused a civilian of a improper act. Restrictions on inmate. This is attorney worthy don’t stand by and allow this unprofessional institution get away with this. To all who actually care read the ar policy’s this institution is breaking their own policies and because they won’t admit when the staff make errors. I’m writing this today hoping someone may actually care. I hope others have the backbone to file the complaints they have on here maybe someone will actually look into this and rectify this situation stop the c.o.,sgts and so called inmate advocate where the hell are these people. These inmate do not have voices I do and will preach this till something changes Atten all NCCI employees get you crap tgthr not all inmates are the devil there are still a couple I’m sure with over 2200 there are a few good ones stop making presumptions about another HUMAN!!!!

  3. karol Starnes says:

My grandson is in this facility, he has a medical problem, needs a pacemaker and they are dragging their feet on getting him the test he needs done. He was recently beat up because a C O told a lie on him. If he gets hit in the heart and something happens to him I have names and I will follow up and do what I have to do so this doesn’t happen again. I want him transferred, I’m tired of people stealing from him, everything I buy him gets stolen and nothing is done about it. How safe is my grandson in there, he is NOT. These people need to get their act together and treat these inmates like human beings. They turn their head when they see someone getting beat up, it’s not right. I think this place should be investagated, maybe we can make that happen.
