  1. Stephanie says:

Would like to share my experience at Hamilton unit in college station. I have been visiting a love one for a couple of weeks. This is my first time visiting a prison. I had made a few calls prior to get information on the regulations of the visits. The person on the phone was very rude and seemed to be bothered with answering any questions of my concern. I really didn’t think much of It and continued with planning my first visit. My first visit was scary and my 12 yr old son was nervous as well. Then after that it didn’t seem that bad till my visit this passed weekend. I had a shirt that had was see through in the back which I didn’t even think about when I put it on that morning, my mistake! The woman (Ms. Watson) who searched me didnt wven notice it at all till the male guard brought it to her attention. Then I was given a gown to put in which was okay, but I made a comment like, “You gotta be kidding me.) I was okay with that but I when Ms. Watson made a rude comment in a rude tone in front of my child. At that point I was like okay they may have had a bad day and continued with the procedure of the visit. I walked into the visiting room and handed my I’d to Ms.Hopes. I asked my sin of he would like to take a picture with his father. I played 3 dollars in quarters on the counter and asked if we could get a receipt for the picture. Ms. Hopes response was “No”, so at that point their attitudes towards me was unexceptable. So I put the 3 dollars back in my coin bag and told her not to worey about and thank you. My son and I sat at our a signed table to waited for our visit to begin. Yes of course i was upset that we werent going to get a picture with our love one but I didn’t say anything to the guard because o didn’t want to jeopardize our visit. Then when my love one came out Ms. HOPES then told him to check me because my attitude was going to terminate our visit. I didn’t say anything rude to this woman but because I wasn’t scared of her and kept my conversation very short with her I had an attitude. This amazes me. But then again I didn’t expect anything less from these type of people. So then the woman in the front desk came and spoke to Ms. Hopes. Ms. Hopes began to tell her that I got upset because she didn’t give me a receipt and put my money back in my coin bag. They both laughed and she continue to say, “it doesn’t matter to me if she is upset or not. It’s not like I cared to take their pi tired anyway.” Mind you guys my sin is right there at table one and can hear everything very clearly. My son then asked mom why are they talking about you. I had to tell my son, just like when kids talk mess about you at school, grown women do the same as adults but it’s how u handle the situation is what counts. Some people never grow up but it was a great lesson for my son so he can see how his mother handled a bully. It’s a shame that this is how guards act in places as such. I’m sorry but I am not an inmate and have not committed a crime to be treated or talked to in such manner. Then I waited two days to call the warden and he wasn’t much help either. But I have to praise God that I only have a few more weeks left to visit this place and they have to deal with that mess everyday. Again I am very disappointed about the situtation but life must go on. I have a a couple of friends in the local news department and thought if I had another incounter with a rude guard I was diffently going to ask them for some goodness on what to do from that point on. Well my friends I hope sharing my experience helps with your upcoming visitations. I have tried to check to see reviews on this facilities and wasn’t able to find many, some were not great and others were okay. I’m going to look into why there isn’t a place to write more reviews. Good day everyone. GOD BLESS
